The Mathematics Department provides graduate programs culminating in either a Doctor of Philosophy or
a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics. Entry into the doctoral program is restricted to candidates
holding a bachelor's degree in mathematics or demonstrating equivalent qualifications, as assessed by the
Director of Graduate Studies. Below are outlined the specific criteria for each doctoral degree. Important:
credits applied toward a Master's degree cannot count toward Ph.D. requirements. Enrollment is mandatory
during semesters when students undertake qualifying/comprehensive exams and defend their dissertation.

All Official Transcripts. TOEFL PBT - 550. TOEFL IBT - 80. IELTS - 6.5.
Regular admission to the Doctor of Philosophy degree program in applied mathematics presupposes academic preparation equivalent to a Master of Science degree with a major in mathematics with a gradepoint average of 3.00 or better.
Three letters of recommendation are required and these are included in the Graduate Portal also. There is a place for you to list the name and email of your recommenders and they will be contacted and asked to upload a letter for you.
Download and fill out the Math / STT Courses form. This form should contain the Math and Statistics Classes you have (or will have) taken at the Junior, Senior, or Graduate level. You can download the form here . Once you have it downloaded, fill it out and upload it through the Graduate Portal. If you need to list more courses please use an additional form.
Official transcripts of all college work (undergraduate and graduate), including diplomas and certificates.
GRE Scores - The GRE subject test in mathematics is strongly recommended. Applications without the GRE mathematics subject score must be outstanding in all other respects to be considered.
