Bachelor's Degree
The Mathematics Department provides graduate programs culminating in either a Doctor of Philosophy or
a Doctor of Philosophy in Applied Mathematics. Entry into the doctoral program is restricted to candidates
holding a bachelor's degree in mathematics or demonstrating equivalent qualifications, as assessed by the
Director of Graduate Studies. Below are outlined the specific criteria for each doctoral degree. Important:
credits applied toward a Master's degree cannot count toward Ph.D. requirements. Enrollment is mandatory
during semesters when students undertake qualifying/comprehensive exams and defend their dissertation.
