Syracuse's political geographers explore how citizenship, development, and governance operate across different scales. Our research investigates the intricate, sometimes conflicting dynamics that shape the movement of capital, populations, and ideas, along with the historical and spatial frameworks influencing how locations and identities evolve.
A key focus involves analyzing the disparities generated by these movements and their reciprocal relationship with global spatial organization. Addressing social justice concerns, much of our work examines historically excluded regions or those under systemic control, while also studying how people challenge or reshape these power structures.
