At the doctoral level, the program focuses on training students for research careers in agencies or academic settings. Participants will develop advanced skills in geospatial analysis within an interdisciplinary framework, carry out and defend original research that expands existing knowledge, and select suitable statistical approaches for their specific research inquiries. The Geospatial and Environmental Analysis PhD program is administered through the College of Natural Resources and Environment, with approximately 60% of its students based in the Geography Department. The curriculum mandates proficiency in Geographic Information Systems and Remote Sensing, requiring students to incorporate these technologies into environmentally focused research projects.
