The BFA Studio Art program offers students two specialization paths: Fine Arts or Illustration. Those choosing the Fine Arts track must focus on a particular discipline, with options such as Ceramics, Drawing, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, Sculpture, Art Education, or Interdisciplinary studies. Art Education students often continue into the Master of Art Teaching (MAT) program. Illustration students can explore traditional and digital media, 3-D modeling, and electives aligned with their creative interests.
The curriculum emphasizes contemporary art theory, criticism, and historical context while providing hands-on training in fully equipped studios. Through critiques and discussions, students progress from foundational coursework to mastering their chosen medium. Work-study opportunities, assistantships, and international study programs offer practical experience. Alumni frequently gain admission to prestigious MFA programs and pursue careers as educators, gallery professionals, illustrators, animators, digital artists, or independent creators.
