New graduate students pursuing Environmental Chemistry must complete two foundational lecture classes and one lab course in the subject. The program additionally provides specialized courses including Environmental Organic Chemistry, Oceanography, Stable Isotopes, Chromatography, and Kinetics. A basic Biochemistry lecture is also mandatory. To build a solid chemical foundation, students choose from Syracuse University's graduate-level courses in Analytical, Physical, Organic, and Inorganic Chemistry. The curriculum also recommends complementary graduate and advanced undergraduate classes from other departments at ESF and Syracuse University.
