The MPH degree curriculum is designed around competencies to align with national initiatives enhancing the quality and accountability of public health education. The Public Health Program faculty established the essential MPH Core Competencies, building upon the ASPPH Master's of Public Health Core Competency Development Project as their foundation. To guarantee all students acquire comprehensive knowledge of fundamental public health domains, satisfactory completion of all MPH Core courses is mandatory. Trainees gain expertise in five key public health disciplines: biostatistics, environmental health, epidemiology, health policy and management, and social/behavioral sciences. Additionally, core instruction covers informatics, communication, professionalism, systems thinking, research methodologies, and analytical skills. Specialized competencies exist for the Health Analytics, Health Policy & Management, and Community Health concentrations. The Program evaluates competency acquisition through assessments conducted at orientation and graduation, as well as before and after each Core course (Pre/Post Course Competency Assessments).
