Our methodology focuses on urban British history while consistently situating Britain within its imperial and global frameworks. The initial two years of graduate studies concentrate mainly on British history post-1460, with specialization options in either the 16th-17th centuries or the modern era, tailored to each student's primary academic focus. In these foundational years, students should enroll in graduate colloquia (including at least one course in both early modern and modern British history) and complete one seminar paper annually (through seminars or directed readings). These papers ideally serve as stepping stones for developing research projects. Coursework may continue into the third year based on individual requirements and interests, covering diverse regions and disciplines including Europe, East Asia, Eastern Europe/Russia, History of Science, Medicine and Technology, Jewish History, Latin America, Medieval Europe, Modern Europe, Ottoman Empire and Middle East, South Asia, Transnational, International, and Global History, and United States
