Faith has the power to both uplift and divide, bringing people together while also creating rifts. It represents humanity's fundamental search for significance and direction. Examining this complex phenomenon allows us to grapple with life's most profound inquiries. The influence of religion extends across politics, creative expression, scientific exploration, and global conflicts, making its study crucial for comprehending our society. The PhD curriculum includes three years of coursework, a comprehensive exam in the chosen specialization, and dissertation research. While completion times vary, the program generally spans six years or more. Each academic year, the Religious Studies department enrolls three to four doctoral candidates, maintaining approximately twenty-five students in the program at any given time. Graduates develop versatile skills applicable to diverse professions such as legal practice, teaching, healthcare, media, public service, nonprofit work, and religious guidance. Program alumni have pursued impactful careers as social justice advocates, entertainment industry writers, inspirational figures, and academic scholars.
Applicants from colleges and universities of recognized standing who hold a U.S. bachelor's degree or its equivalent are eligible to be considered for admission for graduate study. English Proficiency: TOEFL - Your minimum score must be 100 (internet based) OR 600 (paper based).
