The Developmental and Psychological Sciences (DAPS) program focuses on rigorous research and constructive intervention methods to enhance psychological processes crucial for well-being, learning, social connections, and overall adaptation across various settings involving caregivers, families, educators, and mentors. Race, equity, and diversity form foundational elements of all investigations within DAPS. Faculty-mentored student research explores psychological concepts at both individual and societal levels, encompassing neurobiology, growth, instruction, motivation, and assessment. The program aims to prepare scholars for careers that bridge research and practical applications, emphasizing how developmental and psychological knowledge can enhance adjustment, education, and learning results. Students are required to gain proficiency in key areas of developmental and psychological theory, research methods, and uphold the highest academic, professional, and ethical principles. Collaborative work between students and faculty is integral throughout the program. During the initial two years of doctoral studies, students craft their academic plans in close consultation with advisors. The curriculum covers core psychological areas related to education while allowing each student to develop a personalized specialization.
