Exercise science explores the examination of anatomy, motor control, exercise physiology, fitness evaluation, workout programming, and biomechanics. Learners develop comprehensive knowledge of these subjects through academic coursework and hands-on practice in SIU's various kinesiology laboratories.
The curriculum addresses not just the physical dimensions of fitness, athletics, movement, and wellness but also the core principles of nutrition, physiology, and all elements contributing to human health and conditioning. Classes include physiology, communication strategies, nutritional science, chemistry, anatomical studies, injury treatment, fitness testing, exercise planning, biomechanical principles, motor learning, pharmaceutical applications, physical activity, physics concepts, injury prevention, and additional related topics.
