The Associate in Arts in Elementary Teacher Education for Transfer (AA-T) at Skyline College is designed for students planning to transfer to a California State University (CSU) with a focus on Early Childhood Education or a related field. This AA-T program recognizes students' foundational interdisciplinary knowledge in Education.
Skyline College's Elementary Teacher Education (AA-T) prepares students with introductory subject matter content essential for elementary school teaching. While including courses like Introduction to Elementary Education and Child Development, most requirements consist of general education classes needed for teaching Transitional Kindergarten through 5th grade.
AA-T graduates gain guaranteed admission to the CSU system, though not to specific campuses or majors. Those transferring to accepting CSU campuses will need no more than 60 additional units to complete a bachelor's degree. This pathway may not suit students targeting specific CSU campuses, private universities, or non-CSU institutions. Prospective students should meet with a Skyline College counselor for guidance on transfer requirements. All major courses require a C grade or better (or Pass for Pass/No Pass options), and may also fulfill general education requirements.
