The Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education (ELED) equips future educators to support both academic and social-emotional development for students in grades 1-6. This hands-on, classroom-focused program trains candidates to work inclusively with diverse populations, including special needs students and English language learners. Graduates qualify for Illinois teaching certification, with opportunities to pursue additional specializations like special education, literacy instruction, or bilingual/ESL education. The ELED program aims to cultivate skilled, compassionate teachers dedicated to fostering children's cognitive, emotional, social, and physical development. Throughout the program, students build essential teaching competencies—including communication strategies, subject mastery, assessment techniques, and instructional methods—tailored for diverse classrooms. Participants emerge as confident education professionals capable of driving positive change in schools. Upon completion, graduates receive Illinois teaching certification and may enhance their qualifications with supplemental endorsements in areas such as Bilingual/ESL Education, Early Childhood, Special Education (LBS 1), Middle School instruction, or Reading Specialist certification through strategic course planning.
