The Valley Foundation School of Nursing provides a cutting-edge curriculum and diverse hands-on learning experiences for aspiring nurses. The undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs at San Jose State University's nursing school hold accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, equipping future nurses to become ethically conscious practitioners and researchers capable of addressing evolving healthcare challenges worldwide. Bachelor's students engage in supervised clinical rotations across hospital and community settings, while our nurse-run centers in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz counties allow students to deliver vital health services to underserved communities. For experienced nurses pursuing advanced education, our master's program develops specialized expertise in either Nurse Education or Family Nurse Practitioner roles. Additionally, a collaborative Doctor of Nursing Practice program is available through our partnership with California State University, Fresno.

The Valley Foundation School of Nursing at San Jose State University provides Master of Science degrees with two specialization tracks: Nurse Educator and Family Nurse Practitioner.
Our graduate curriculum aligns with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Masters Essentials framework, with our doctoral-level faculty delivering top-tier nursing instruction.
Applications for both MS specializations open for Fall Semester enrollment. These intensive five-semester programs operate on a full-time cohort basis, combining online coursework with mandatory weekly in-person sessions (Tuesdays or Wednesdays), plus additional clinical training days.
Students must have a Completion of an accredited baccalaureate program in nursing with an upper-division major comparable to that offered at San José State University. Applicants who have completed other curricula or who have deficiencies will be considered individually and may be required to enroll in designated courses. Applicants must present a GPA of at least 3.0 in the last 60 units of the undergraduate nursing major.
