Registered nurses with a Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited national program may qualify for postgraduate studies in Nursing Education. Before starting the Nursing Education curriculum, students must complete three foundational courses for advanced practice nursing: Advanced Assessment, Advanced Pathophysiology, and Advanced Pharmacology. If these courses weren't part of the applicant's MSN program, they can be taken at Tennessee State University prior to beginning the Education Concentration coursework.
To earn the post-graduate certificate, students must satisfactorily finish all 20 credit hours of Nursing Education Concentration courses along with the required clinical hours. The program begins with NURS5230 in the Spring Semester, and participants must complete all education courses in sequence.
