The master's program in furniture design is tailored to nurture your unique creative vision and artistic growth. As you craft various furniture pieces, you'll push the boundaries of your design thinking, aesthetic judgment, and conceptual understanding while honing your technical skills and construction methodologies. During the initial year of the furniture design program, you'll explore crucial topics surrounding artistic creation and production, sparking intellectual curiosity and helping shape your preliminary thesis direction. Significant studio time allows you to enhance woodcraft abilities, design principles, and personal artistic voice. The second year focuses on perfecting your creative approach as you develop and execute a comprehensive thesis project, collaborating with RIT's exhibition team to professionally present your final collection.

Qualification Requirements
To be considered for admission to the MFA program in furniture design, candidates must fulfill the following requirements:
Complete an online graduate application. Refer to Graduate Admission Deadlines and Requirements for information on application deadlines, entry terms, and more.
Submit copies of official transcript(s) (in English) of all previously completed undergraduate and graduate course work, including any transfer credit earned.
Hold a baccalaureate degree (or US equivalent) from an accredited university or college in a field of arts, sciences, or education.
Recommended minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (or equivalent).
Submit a current resume or curriculum vitae.
