Purdue's philosophy graduate program provides students with a uniquely varied and comprehensive curriculum. Along with focusing on modern analytic philosophy, the department's faculty excel in historical philosophy and continental European thought. Students first establish a strong foundation in four core philosophical disciplines (history of philosophy, metaphysics and epistemology, value theory, and logic/language/science) before crafting their personalized research paths.
With sixteen faculty members—including one University-designated Distinguished Professor—the department boasts impressive research credentials. Faculty have recently secured funding from prestigious organizations like the National Endowment for the Humanities, Guggenheim Foundation, and Templeton Foundation. Shared faculty research interests mirror the department's academic strengths, creating diverse research possibilities for Purdue students.
