Case Western Reserve University pioneered the country's first PhD program in Bioethics in 2004. Over the years, we've educated an exceptional cohort of bioethics and medical humanities scholars who are making significant contributions across diverse disciplines. These include philosophy, health sciences, legal studies, business administration, policy analysis, social sciences, theology, and beyond. Our program attracts candidates from various academic and professional backgrounds. Every doctoral candidate in Bioethics receives comprehensive interdisciplinary education, equipping them to develop, design, and implement both theoretical ethical frameworks and evidence-based studies on bioethical challenges. The program's mission is to cultivate academic leaders with specialized skills in formulating, designing, and conducting both philosophical and data-driven research within bioethics and medical humanities.
