Our department excels in diverse philosophical traditions, including Africana, Analytic Metaphysics, Value Theory, Continental, and Latin American/Decolonial philosophy, creating a vibrant intellectual setting for graduate studies.

Beyond the core Philosophy curriculum, which embraces varied philosophical approaches, students must also obtain an MA in a complementary discipline.

This requirement can be satisfied through three pathways:

Candidates may join the program with an existing Master's degree or equivalent. The GPAC will evaluate whether the degree qualifies as an appropriate supplementary Master's, assessing both its academic nature and its distinction from philosophy.
Students can pursue a Master's in another field concurrently with their studies at Texas A&M. The GPAC must approve the chosen program, and students should gain admission to it by their second year. (Those considering external institutions should contact the DGS promptly.)
Alternatively, students may follow one of five predefined multidisciplinary tracks outlined below. These structured pathways incorporate courses from across the university, providing broad, interdisciplinary perspectives that enhance philosophical inquiry. The tracks, like our curriculum, demonstrate our dedication to fostering diversity within and beyond the discipline.
