This program focuses on building fundamental abilities in Spanish communication, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The curriculum also exposes students to Hispanic literature, culture, and linguistic studies. Students can tailor their studies to emphasize either literary analysis or language structure, with options for specialized training in translation and Spanish for social services. Credits earned through study abroad programs in Spain and Mexico count toward degree requirements. Those pursuing teaching careers can complete certification requirements for K-12 Spanish instruction through collaboration with the College of Education.

Qualification Requirements
The majority of Penn State’s applications come from traditional, first-year students.
