The combined BS program in mathematics and sociology blends coursework from both disciplines to establish a solid foundation, equipping students to create sociological models through mathematical approaches. Mathematics plays an increasingly vital role in modern society and daily life, serving as the fundamental language of science and technology while offering powerful tools for addressing real-world challenges. Its applications now extend across nearly every domain, from business and the arts to the social sciences. The program offers adaptable elective options, allowing students to explore interdisciplinary opportunities, such as pairing mathematics with computer science, physics, or biology. High-achieving students can participate in the Honors Program, which includes specialized honors courses. Additionally, all mathematics majors have access to valuable co-op experiences in Boston's thriving scientific and business sectors, as well as other locations.
