Students pursuing a sociology bachelor's degree study core subjects like sociological theory, research methodologies, statistical analysis, and key sociological fields. They explore societal structures through diverse theoretical frameworks and both numerical and observational research approaches. Coursework examines pressing social issues, cultural standards and deviations, societal variety, and patterns of disparity and transformation. Research often explores how factors like race, gender, age, and economic status influence access to healthcare, education, employment, and other societal benefits. Additional studies may address elder and child welfare systems, sexual behavior patterns, healthcare systems, economic deprivation, criminal behavior, and collective social actions.
High school students and students with fewer than 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours of university-level credit beyond secondary school should apply as freshman applicants.
