Students can pursue focused academic and research training in various Plant Sciences disciplines, including plant breeding and genetics, weed science, biotechnology, and field/forage crop production and management. Horticulture specializations cover breeding and genetics, biotechnology, physiology, propagation, sports/urban turf grass management, and cultivation of horticultural crops like woody plants, potatoes, vegetables, and herbaceous ornamentals. Cereal Science specializations may focus on carbohydrates, enzymes, legumes and other northern crops, barley malting/brewing, wheat milling, baking, and pasta production.
