All essential items in contemporary society are produced through manufacturing. As companies strive to enhance product quality and reduce expenses, they rely on manufacturing engineers to devise effective methods.
Manufacturing engineers utilize scientific concepts in the creation of goods. They play a crucial role in producing diverse items such as cars, aircraft, farm equipment, electronic devices, medical tools, playthings, construction materials, food products, athletic and leisure gear, and others. In every instance, these engineers develop the procedures and frameworks to manufacture products that meet functional needs, adhere to strict quality benchmarks, are accessible when and where consumers desire, at the most competitive prices, and through environmentally sustainable approaches.
The Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering (IME) at North Dakota State University provides two academic paths: one leading to a Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering and another in Industrial Engineering and Management. Both curricula are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, accessible at www.abet.org.
Upon completing a manufacturing engineering degree, you will be equipped to design systems and processes that boost the quality and efficiency of an organization's operations. You will apply a solid foundation in core engineering and management principles to seamlessly integrate human resources, technology, machinery, and finances to drive beneficial improvements. In essence, you will engineer and deploy the optimal methods for producing goods.
