Students pursuing our BSAS in Mechanical Engineering Technology gain the skills needed for planning, designing, inspecting, implementing, and overseeing mechanical engineering projects, manufacturing processes, and equipment. Graduates with a BSAS in MET typically find roles as mechanical engineers or engineering designers. They also have access to internship or co-op opportunities with various companies during their junior and senior years, providing valuable experience and income that can distinguish them from other candidates in the job market after graduation. Our graduates are well-equipped to pursue advanced degrees, such as a Master of Business Administration or a Master of Science in Engineering. In most states, they are eligible to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and, with adequate work experience, the Professional Engineers (PE) exam. Additionally, we provide courses that lead to specific certifications upon completion, including 3D CAD and robotics.
Applicants must have graduated from high school or have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) test to be considered for admission. Freshman applicants applying for admission to Youngstown State University must submit a high school transcript and American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) scores.
