The Department of Apparel, Design, and Hospitality Management provides an accredited bachelor's degree in interior design. During the initial two years, students learn design basics, visual and technical communication methods (such as drafting, perspective drawing, model construction, and rendering), along with theoretical and practical concepts (including anthropometrics, ergonomics, universal design, interior technology, and color theory). Students recognize that interior design is a multifaceted profession where teamwork with industry experts and related fields is standard practice. Advanced coursework centers on interconnected studio sessions and complementary classes covering design history, research-based design, interior materials, professional standards, CAD, and building systems. The program concludes with a capstone senior project. Studio work ensures students engage with diverse projects of varying complexity and client objectives.
