The Graduate Program in Crop Science is centered on our goal to become a global frontrunner in Crop Science education, knowledge creation, and practical implementation for economically viable and ecologically sound crop systems. We also aim to pioneer land management approaches that safeguard North Carolina's soil, water, and air quality.
Our Graduate program's purpose is to cultivate the next generation of Crop Science leaders, emphasizing advancements in crop plants and products, sustainable agricultural and urban production methods, and sharing expertise to benefit food, feed, turf, biofuel, and fiber producers and consumers locally, nationally, and globally.
Graduate studies concentrate on key disciplines including crop management and physiology, plant genetics and breeding, weed control, alternative crops, and the environmental effects of pesticides.

Qualification Requirements
A minimum of a 3.0 GPA at the Baccalaureate or master's level is required, although exceptions may be made for master's applicants with a very strong GPA in science classes and/or their final two years, or with substantial post-baccalaureate work experience. Students accepted will typically have a bachelor's or master's degree in crop science, or closely related fields, with strong preparation in the biological and physical sciences.
IELTS scores with an overall band score of at least 6.5. Minimum test scores for each section are listed below: Listening 6.5, Reading 6.5, Writing 6.5, Speaking 6.5
TOEFL with a total score of at least 80 on the Internet-based Test (iBT), and with minimum test scores for each section of: Listening 18 points, Reading 18 points, Writing 18 points.
Computer-based TOEFL scores must be 213 or higher (with at least 17 on three sections and no section score below 13). The paper-based test requires a score of 550 or higher (with scores of 50 on at least two of the three sections and no section score below 45).
