The Master of Arts in Latin American and Caribbean Studies combined with a Juris Doctor in Law equips legal students with cross-cultural expertise for global professional opportunities and interactions with Latin American/Caribbean enterprises and individuals domestically. Prospective dual degree students must apply separately to both the Graduate School of Arts and Science (GSAS) and the Law School. Admissions decisions are made independently by each institution following their standard criteria - no special requirements exist for dual degree seekers. While applications to both schools can be submitted concurrently, current first-year Law students may also apply to GSAS to begin the combined program during their second academic year.
This joint degree pathway typically requires three to four years to finish, with academic guidance from both departments. The curriculum comprises 94 total credits across both degrees. Program specifics are available through designated advisors in each academic unit.
