This specialization enables students to examine the intricate relationships between human societies and natural systems across Latin America. The curriculum focuses on critical global issues such as maintaining food supplies, meeting growing energy and water needs, and protecting ecosystems amidst climate change. Participants engage with resilience-focused studies and practical solutions for urgent social concerns, including climate impacts, population changes and urban development, public health and biological factors, sustainable resource management, and socioeconomic disparities. Students choose courses from various disciplines including Anthropology, Communication & Journalism, Community & Regional Planning, Geography & Environmental Studies, Political Science, and Sociology, along with offerings from the School of Public Administration and College of Population Health. This track is particularly suitable for those enrolled in the MALAS/MCRP or MALAS/MPH dual degree programs, or individuals aiming for careers in health-related professions.
