Established in the 1960s, the American Studies program focuses on examining how American culture impacts and molds societal lifestyles. This program enables students to investigate American culture through various perspectives, including diverse concepts, literature, artifacts, organizations, traditions, historical contexts, and the intricate social and political dynamics that continually redefine American identity. Our cross-disciplinary approach encourages breaking down academic barriers and investigating topics that lead to fresh insights into colonization, disability, diversity, environmental concerns, ethnicity, gender, incarceration, social disparities, media, migration, activism, race, sexuality, technology, global connections, and violence.
