The 30-credit Master of Arts program offers specialized education in the multidisciplinary exploration of U.S. history, culture, and social structures. Participants develop comprehensive knowledge of American Studies as a discipline, encompassing its historical development, theoretical frameworks, and research methodologies. The curriculum provides an overview of American history across different eras and subjects, specialized instruction in chosen focus areas, and enhanced research capabilities. This interdisciplinary approach enables students to customize their academic path according to personal interests while maintaining a solid foundation in American Studies principles.
Through required courses and electives, learners examine American Studies both as an independent discipline and as a convergence point for diverse scholarly perspectives ranging from historical analysis to cultural anthropology and media research. To be eligible, an applicant must hold or expect to hold prior to matriculation a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited U.S. college or university, or an equivalent degree from a recognized non-U.S. institution of higher education.
