The American Studies program offers an interdisciplinary exploration of U.S. culture, society, and national identity, examining these themes through historical, literary, and theoretical perspectives. Students can investigate the development of American civilization using CGU's unique cross-disciplinary research methods while enhancing their humanities education. This concentration is open to those enrolled in Applied Gender Studies, Cultural Studies, English, History, and Religion programs, appearing on transcripts as a supplementary specialization alongside the primary degree. Participants collaborate with faculty mentors to design a cohesive academic path, combining departmental seminars with cross-listed courses from other CGU departments and Claremont Colleges institutions. The curriculum requires at least four seminars within the student's primary department plus two from complementary disciplines.
