The Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Studies merges passions for food and nutrition with health, culture, or business pursuits. Participants opt for either the Nutrition and Dietetics or Food Studies track. The curriculum covers nutrition fundamentals, food identity, food science, and production management, offering a comprehensive view of food's societal role. Coursework examines nutritional content, dietary habits, cultural influences on eating, food marketing, and team management, alongside hands-on food preparation training in the department's lab facilities.
Faculty assist students in securing meaningful internships across New York City's vast professional landscape, including healthcare institutions, culinary establishments, media outlets, corporations, and community organizations. These practical experiences enhance professional competencies and frequently result in job opportunities.
The Food Studies concentration delves into food's cultural, historical, and social dimensions. Using humanities and social science perspectives, the program equips students to evaluate America's food network, its worldwide ties, and community-based solutions.
