The Alexander S. Onassis Program in Hellenic Studies offers students an interdisciplinary exploration of Greek language, literature, history, and politics. Through diverse coursework, learners encounter multiple perspectives that illuminate Greece's historical journey from Byzantine times through Ottoman rule to modernity, examining how these eras shape contemporary Greek identity. The program investigates Greece's cultural connections with Western Europe, the Balkans, the Middle East, and Mediterranean regions, while celebrating its rich literary and artistic heritage - often considered foundational to Western civilization, yet deeply rooted in multicultural influences.
The summer program in Athens blends academic study of Greek language and culture with immersive experiences.
