Pursuing an Africana studies degree offers opportunities to investigate how Africa and its global diaspora have shaped modern society and historical periods across disciplines like literature, history, philosophy, international affairs, cultural analysis, music, and visual arts. The Africana Studies and Research Center (ASRC) focuses on analyzing the historical narratives, cultural expressions, intellectual traditions, and societal structures of Black communities throughout the Americas, Africa, the Caribbean, and worldwide African diaspora. The program adopts an interdisciplinary and comparative approach, covering diverse topics including historical studies, literary analysis, social sciences, contemporary culture, racial disparities, gender and sexual identity, and African linguistic studies.
Students completing their high school during the 2021-22 academic year or if they've graduated from high school but have earned fewer than 12 credits at a college or university are eligible for admission as first year students.
TOEFL - Score of 100 and above (Internet-based exam); 70 and above on the PTE Academic; IELTS - Score of 7.5.
