The rigorous and selective Global Public Health (GPH) undergraduate programs enable CAS students to pursue an interdisciplinary curriculum blending public health with another College discipline (GPH must be paired with another major). These programs leverage faculty and courses from across NYU to meet the growing global need for cross-disciplinary public health professionals. The curriculum combines classroom learning with hands-on experiences and study abroad components, equipping graduates with versatile skills for diverse career paths.
The global public health/history major offers a distinctive approach to examining human experiences across different eras and regions while exploring worldwide population health issues. This program utilizes the CAS History Department's strengths in teaching students to critically assess various forms of evidence - cultural, social, economic, and political - and synthesize them into cohesive written or oral presentations. Coursework covers diverse subjects including environmental history, epidemiology, gender studies, health policy, social movements, and more. This interdisciplinary major develops valuable competencies applicable to numerous fields such as education, healthcare, law, media, international relations, and scientific research.
