The field of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) focuses on human communication and provides fulfilling career paths in speech-language pathology. Professionals in this field typically work in educational institutions, healthcare facilities, rehabilitation clinics, and private practices. By combining undergraduate studies with a master's program, students can meet the academic and clinical experience requirements for ASHA's Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in speech-language pathology. Since January 1, 1994, all graduate coursework counting toward the CCC must be completed through a program accredited by ASHA's Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA).
Program Objective: The Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders aims to thoroughly prepare students for careers serving individuals with communication challenges while advancing research into typical and atypical communication development, including speech, language, hearing, and swallowing functions.
