The Mechanical Engineering Department offers a program that blends core mathematical and engineering principles with creative design thinking. Students gain expertise to transform concepts into tangible products. The curriculum combines individual subject proficiency with collaborative approaches to open-ended design challenges and hands-on engineering applications. Beyond mandatory coursework, students can specialize through elective concentrations in specific interest areas. This multifaceted discipline applies core scientific concepts to create, design, and produce everything from microscopic components like biosensors and micro-reactors to massive systems including spacecraft propulsion, robotic equipment, and automotive technologies. Mechanical engineers focus on inventing, developing, producing, evaluating, and commercializing devices and systems that manipulate, convert, and harness energy to generate movement. Success in this field demands a comprehensive skill set and knowledge base. The Department maintains longstanding international exchange initiatives with institutions like RWTH Aachen in Germany, École Catholique d'Arts et Métiers in France, the University of Edinburgh in the UK, Korea University, and Denmark's Technical University. These programs bring global students to our campus while offering diverse opportunities, including cooperative education placements available after the first year of study.
