The Department of Mechanical Engineering provides a doctoral program culminating in a Ph.D. in Engineering with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering. This program also includes a Nuclear Engineering concentration, which maintains identical admission criteria and degree requirements as the Mechanical Engineering track.

Qualification Requirements

The applicant must have a Master of Science in Engineering degree or equivalent with a major in mechanical engineering or a closely allied field.
A minimum post-baccalaureate GPA of 3.30 (on a 4.00 scale) is required for graduates from accredited U.S. institutions. The Graduate College is responsible for international GPA interpretation.

The applicant must have a bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related discipline.
A minimum GPA of 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) is required for graduates from accredited U.S. institutions. The Graduate College is responsible for international GPA interpretation.

Transcripts - One transcript from every post-secondary institution the applicant has attended (regardless of whether a degree or credential was earned), showing all coursework, extension and correspondence work, any degrees earned, and the dates that those degrees were awarded. Unofficial transcripts will be accepted as part of the application process. However, if an applicant is admitted, official transcripts will be required by the date specified on the Certificate of Admission. Transfer credits posted on another institution's transcript will not be accepted in lieu of the transcript itself. Only transcripts sent directly from the institution are considered official. Failure to disclose all coursework and/or degrees awarded will result in rescission of admission.
