The Fluid Mechanics Research Group conducts investigations across diverse domains, utilizing theoretical, experimental, and computational approaches. Ongoing initiatives encompass analyses of turbulent jets and mixing layers, flow regulation via piezoelectric actuators, surface-tension-driven flow stability, microgravity fluid behavior, thin film dynamics, transient swirling flow stability, vortex collapse phenomena, and collaborative projects with bioengineering faculty on hemodynamics, bioreactor flows, and cardiac fluid dynamics. Research funding originates from multiple entities including AFOSR, NASA, NSF, the American Heart Association, the Whitaker Foundation, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and various private sector partners.

Qualification Requirements

The following undergraduate degree GPAs are required:

At least 3.3 GPA for the Master's and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering programs
In general, international students pursuing a terminal M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering will not be admitted, with three exceptions:
Students who are applying to study at the Georgia Tech Lorraine campus.
Students who are Fulbright Fellowship awardees (or with fellowships from their home countries that pay tuition and fees along with a stipend for living expenses).
Students who graduated with the B.S.M.E. from Georgia Tech.
