The Doctor of Philosophy in Forestry offers advanced training to develop scholars and leaders capable of advancing understanding of forest ecosystems and addressing critical challenges in delivering forest ecosystem services across local, regional, and worldwide levels. This research-focused program requires students to conduct original applied or theoretical research equivalent in quality to two to four peer-reviewed scientific journal publications.

GRE SCORES GRE scores are required for admission to our MS and PhD programs. These scores must be sent directly from the GRE Scoring Office to MSU. Use institution code 1465 and department code 0108
TOEFL. English language proficiency must be demonstrated for applicants from non English speaking countries. For the TOEFL, MSU requires that applicants have an average of 80 or higher. Furthermore, individual Speaking, Listening, and Reading subscores must be 19 or higher, and the Writing subscore must be 22 or higher. TOEFL scores must be sent directly from the TOEFL Scoring Office to MSU. Use institution code 1465 and department code 99.
