The graduate program in Sustainable Forest Management focuses on preserving forest landscapes to achieve specific ecological, economic, and social goals across extended periods. It adheres to the sustainability guidelines established by the Montreal Process Criteria and Indicators, which Oregon has officially embraced.
Students gain comprehensive training in forest management strategies aimed at enhancing woodland vitality while delivering diverse products and ecosystem benefits. The curriculum includes foundational courses on sustainable forestry concepts, statistical methods for research analysis, plus focused study in one of six specialization tracks (MS/PhD) or three professional directions (MF).
Degree requirements include a project for MF candidates, a thesis for MS students, and a dissertation for PhD scholars.
