The Department of Forestry provides advanced degree programs culminating in a Master of Science in forestry or a Doctor of Philosophy in forest resources. Students can focus on specialized fields such as forest business administration, timber management and economic analysis, genetic research in forestry, watershed and soil studies, silvicultural practices, statistical modeling for forests, aerial imaging and satellite data interpretation, tree and seed biology, logging operations, and ecosystem physiology. The department conducts comprehensive research through the MSU Forest and Wildlife Research Center, enabling graduate students to select from diverse thesis or dissertation topics under the guidance of seasoned faculty advisors.
