The Department of Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP) offers advanced professional training for future planners in government, private sector, and nonprofit organizations across the globe. The Master in City Planning (MCP) serves as a professional credential that equips students with both fundamental competencies and specialized expertise required for conventional and innovative planning positions. This rigorous two-year curriculum focuses on practical methodologies, setting it apart from general urban studies programs. The intensive coursework prioritizes analytical techniques for policy evaluation and organizational engagement.

MCP alumni pursue diverse careers spanning conventional urban planning to specialized fields like economic strategy, social policy, and environmental management. Beyond foundational courses, the program features six concentration options: urban design and redevelopment; environmental policy and land use; housing and community revitalization; global development; urban analytics; and transportation systems.
