Pursuing a major in Classical Studies, whether in Classical Civilization, Latin, or Ancient Greek, offers comprehensive insight into Western cultural heritage. Minors in these same disciplines (available for all three areas) significantly enrich a student's liberal arts background. These programs serve as strong foundations for pre-law, pre-med, business, and various professions: students develop interdisciplinary skills that allow them to leverage broad cultural perspectives.
Graduates in Classical Civilization will demonstrate the ability to:
comprehend the cultural, intellectual, and ethical frameworks of ancient Greek and Roman societies
critically examine textual, visual, and archaeological evidence using appropriate disciplinary approaches (literature & languages, art & archaeology, history & culture)
draw meaningful parallels between antiquity, its modern interpretations, and contemporary global challenges
