The School of Animal Sciences provides advanced degree programs focusing on areas such as breeding and genetics, metabolic and growth physiology, dairy science, meat processing technology, nutrition for ruminant and non-ruminant animals, reproductive biology, and biotechnological applications.
Studies are conducted across multiple species including beef and dairy cattle, equines, swine, ovine, caprine, poultry, and various laboratory animals. Collaborative efforts between faculty and researchers from the School of Veterinary Medicine, Pennington Biomedical Research Institute, and Louisiana Agricultural Experiment Station (LAES) facilities statewide create extensive research possibilities for graduate students in animal science disciplines.
