The Department of Animal Sciences holds the distinctive role of supporting Colorado's extensive and varied livestock sectors. The Master of Science in Animal Sciences, Plan A requires 30 credit hours, which involves developing and defending an original research thesis. This program anticipates at least one peer-reviewed publication from each student. Learners focus on one of the department's specialty areas (such as beef/dairy systems management, breeding/genetics, animal behavior/welfare, sustainable livestock production, microbiome/cell/molecular biology, meat science/food safety, nutrition, reproduction, or equine studies) to equip themselves for careers in animal agriculture or advanced doctoral studies.

Bachelor's degree must be completed by the start of your graduate program.
U.S. degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution to qualify for CSU graduate admission (certificate or degree program).
Contact your department to find out if unofficial transcripts are accepted. If your department accepts unofficial transcripts, you may be admitted and registered in your first semester of courses with an unofficial transcript. Official transcripts must be submitted, prior to or during your first semester, before you can register for your second semester of graduate work. Failure to meet this condition will result in your dismissal from the Graduate School.
You will need unofficial transcripts of all collegiate work completed post-high school. Separate transcripts are required for study abroad if the courses, grades, and credits are not recorded on the transcript of the university that sponsored the study abroad.
Training course transcripts from branches of the U.S. Military that show credit received with neither grades nor degrees awarded are exempt from the transcript requirements. You must upload the front and back of transcripts and include any grading scale provided.
In general, the minimum cumulative GPA for non-provisional admittance is a 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) to be admitted by the Graduate School.
