The Master of Education (MEd) in Curriculum & Instruction with an Early Childhood Education (ECE) focus enhances the expertise of certified educators working with young learners in preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school settings. During this MEd program, participants develop both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in child development, research-backed teaching strategies for young children, and assessment techniques to measure instructional effectiveness.
To complete this MEd degree through the College of Human Sciences & Education, students must earn 36 graduate-level credits. The curriculum includes coursework in curriculum design (3 credits), research methods (3 credits), psychological foundations (3 credits), specialized early childhood education content (15 credits), and interdisciplinary electives (6 credits).
Graduate studies emphasize both research and practical application. Research courses examine intervention strategies for young learners, while field experiences allow students to observe classroom dynamics and connect educational theory with practice. Thesis research comprises 6 credit hours as students conduct their culminating academic projects.
