The Department of Early Childhood Education provides three distinct Master of Arts programs focused on early childhood learning. These advanced studies equip students with specialized training for working with children aged birth through eight years and their families. The curriculum emphasizes creating ideal learning environments for young children during their formative years. One program option, the Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education - Initial Licensure, qualifies graduates for PreK-3 teaching certification in Tennessee. Alternatively, the Early Care and Education or Research tracks prepare students for leadership positions in early education settings, including teaching, program administration, family support services, community outreach, academic research, and community college instruction.
