The Department of Communication Sciences & Disorders at Louisiana State University is committed to providing outstanding education, cutting-edge research, and exceptional clinical services. We offer comprehensive degree programs spanning bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels, serving a varied student body across the university.
Every master's program course is led by doctoral-level faculty members.
Graduate students can utilize advanced research labs featuring modern computerized systems for studying typical and atypical speech, language, hearing, vocal, and swallowing functions.
Through collaborations with LSU's Interdisciplinary Program in Linguistics and the Life Course and Aging Center, our master's students gain exposure to faculty researching areas connected to Communication Disorders.
Our on-site clinic operates with nine certified and licensed clinical instructors specializing in speech-language pathology or audiology. Each year, we assist more than 300 clients from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds across both rural and urban communities.
Through partnerships with numerous off-campus facilities, students gain hands-on experience evaluating and treating speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing conditions in hospitals, schools, private clinics, and other healthcare environments.
Our graduate program employs CALIPSO software to monitor students' ASHA competency development throughout their coursework and clinical training, allowing trainees to review their progress at any stage.
