Introduced by the College of Music and Dramatic Arts in 1998-99, the Bachelor of Arts in Music provides a flexible option for students seeking a less rigorous music program compared to the Bachelor of Music Education or Bachelor of Music degrees.
This program caters to students desiring a wider range of subjects alongside fundamental music training. The Bachelor of Arts in Music features 8 specialized concentrations, offering structured academic paths with pre-selected courses tailored to each focus area. Participants enjoy considerable flexibility in selecting courses, both within and outside the LSU School of Music.
As a liberal arts degree, the Bachelor of Arts in Music enables students to explore varied interests and multiple career directions. Graduates are equipped for professional opportunities in education, performance, music libraries, arts management, music business, social services, and advanced studies in music history or theory.
